What is SSC JE and which departments?

SSC JE recruits Junior Engineers in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Quantity Surveying & Contracts (as notified) for central departments such as CPWD, the Military Engineer Services (MES), the Central Water Commission (CWC) and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). It is a Group B non-gazetted post.

Eligibility and age

• Education: a diploma or degree in the relevant engineering branch — the exact requirement varies by department and post.
• Age: generally up to 30 or 32 years depending on the post, with standard category relaxations.

Exam pattern

• Paper I (objective): General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Engineering (in your chosen branch — Civil, Mechanical or Electrical), with 0.25 negative marking.
